Endangered! The Musical

All Our Energy was a part of the recently extended hit family musical Endangered! at their CLIMATE TALKBACK SERIES, following the Sunday performances (3pm curtain, talk back began at 4:30pm) at the Davenport Theatre (354 West 45 Street)

THE ENDANGERED CLIMATE TALKBACK SERIES welcomed devoted environmental experts and activists to speak on the many aspects of climate change and related issues and concerns, including endangered species preservation, education and outreach, and sustainable solutions. This series speaks to the most current issues and thinking on climate change and its causes, habitat loss and species preservation, and the best strategies to educate the younger generation – including arts and entertainment vehicles such as Endangered! The Musical.

“With residents of Texas and Louisiana barely drying off from Hurricane Harvey, and Hurricane Irma buffeting the Caribbean and bearing down on the US, with historic wildfires in the western US and superstorms around the globe, there is no time to lose in discussing and illuminating the topic of global warming and climate disruption. The central message of Endangered! is about the importance for people of all ages of being aware of the changes taking place all around the world, the impact of those changes on both animals and humans, and the importance of caring for and celebrating all life on the planet,” said Endangered! book writer, Keni Fine.

The Long Beach Herald printed my letter… and since then another Category 5 hurricane devastated St Croix, USVI and Puerto Rico.
Climate change certainly is demanding our response. The answer is in you and me, in making it a priority, and acting together.

NYS Offshore Wind Master Plan Meeting July 10 – 12, 2017

NYSERDA
The New York State Energy and Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) is leading the development of offshore wind on behalf of the state. Throughout 2017, NYSERDA is conducting extensive stakeholder outreach and directing over twenty studies and surveys to ensure that offshore wind is developed responsibly. This work will culminate in the New York Offshore Wind Master Plan, to be released by the end of 2017.

As part of its public outreach, NYSERDA invites you to three public information meetings on Long Island this summer. These meetings will provide the public with an opportunity to learn about the components of the Master Plan along with informational exhibits, and an opportunity to ask questions about the plan. The meetings are 6:00-7:00 p.m. Presentation and Q&A, then 7:00-8:00 p.m. is open house each day at the following locations:

We thank the officials who came, representing 4 levels of government and Fios1 had a report on the event.

Right now, we are looking for community solar subscribers and for locations to host a project. Bold ideas are welcome and its going to take speaking to hundreds of people-maybe thousands, but we are committed to making this a reality. Help us unlock the future!

Newsday says wha? No, we didn’t let it stand. May 31, 2017

Earlier in May, Newsday had, for the second time in just a few weeks, assaulted both factual information about off shore wind and our renewable energy future with misleading complaints about the unknown costs of renewables in 2030. Our volunteer team did not disappoint in responding!! Congratulations to Karen Miller for having your letter published in Newsday and to all those who submitted letters to stand up for facts over anti-wind hit pieces.

I believe it would show total disrespect for the ratepayers if the Long Island Power Authority claimed it could outline the costs of green energy plans over the next 20 years.

The costs of both solar and wind power have been dropping. The costs for wind power alone have been forecast to shrink by 24 percent to 30 percent by 2030, according to a survey of experts published in the journal Nature Energy in November.

A 50-inch television bought 12 years ago cost several thousand dollars. Today, it costs several hundred. This is the way technology often works. For someone to base the cost of that TV today on the cost 12 years ago would have been foolhardy, and to pretend otherwise as an excuse for not implementing technology is to show an implicit bias.

Moreover, the need for us to utilize clean energy technologies is immediate and urgent. Failure to do so will allow the increased impact of climate change to exacerbate extreme weather conditions and sea-level rise.
