Spinning Out A True Tale

An update and some timely (or is that “timeless”) commentary…

I was pleased to arrive home last night to find it spinning: generating clean, usable, efficient electricity. They got it up and running really quickly.

Judging by my intimate knowledge of how windy it is down here at Point Lookout
from September to June, I bet the turbine will exceed it’s promised 200,000 kilowatt hours produced, by a significant amount. Just my best guess, because I understand the “average” wind speed and the actual output can vary widely if the wind resource is significantly strong for long periods, like it is here. That gives a greater Annual Energy Output(AEO) than average wind speeds reveal.

Most importantly:
Remember everytime you see it, if it’s moving, it is generating electricity.
If it is moving, others just like it; big and small, could be doing the same thing, put to work for you and your electricity use. It is just a wasted resource.
They could replace the smoke stacks you see, in Island Park, Freeport etc,
If you could do that, your electricity use would no longer;

  • Harm the environment through
    1. the release of carbon dioxide as well as toxic pollutants into the air and atmosphere from burning the fuel used
    2. waste of fuels transporting other fuels
    3. pollution on land and the destruction caused by mining, fracking, spills and waste disposal
    4. pollution and continuation of water: ponds, streams, rivers, lakes, estuaries, bays, and oceans from spills, dumping and just plain old methods for mining, fracking etc.
    5. unnecessary waste of water resources used during all these processes
  • Deplete a limited resource that could better be used for what we still must use it for
  • shift the costs of environmental damage, clean up and storage of waste, and the coinciding added healthcare costs for more sick people because of that damage, onto everyone else. These are the “external costs” not paid for in the price of fossil fuels, nuclear etc, but are billable to everyone else so the user can enjoy that use at strictly the upfront costs, not the back end. Now that we realize this as a society, isn’t it time we asked the user to pay their share of that?

It could all be happening now. By you, for you. All that is missing is you.
