Long Island Solar Farm

On November 18, 2011 the switch was flipped on at The Long Island Solar Farm (LISF), a joint project between Brookhaven National Lab, BP (British Petroleum) Solar, and MetLife through the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA).

Made up of 164,312 solar panels, it is the largest photovoltaic (PV) array in the eastern U.S., rated at 32-megawatts (MW) capacity, with the smallest footprint for a solar array of its output. » Read more..
