Very Important Stories Right Now

So much to talk about… So little time.

Just because this forum has been silent doesn’t mean our waters don’t run deep!

Before February gets completely away, its time to take a moment and tack up some important stories in renewable energy here.

Obviously the big stories are out there but ones we’re most interested in are:

1. Obama’s Tax Framework Proposes Permanent Renewable Energy PTC
By Laura DiMugno at North American Windpower

President Obama’s latest tax code revamp not only cuts corporate taxes, it will write tax incentives and breaks for renewable energy PERMANENTLY into the tax code, just like fossil fuels have enjoyed for over 80 years. This replaces the on again, off again temporary incentives that have done more harm than good to spur investment in renewable energy. If you don’t know if you will be able to write off your investment expenses two years from now, how can you invest in it? This goes a long way towards solving this problem. We still stand behind feed in tariffs over tax schemes because they are available to all, protect the public trust by paying only for energy production, and are paid for by everyone based on USE, so wasters pay their fair share.

2. Projects to Add Wind Power for City Gain Momentum
By Mireya Navarro at New York Times.com

New York City finally figuring out how to get into the wind power game! Hot on the heels of the tidal project, no less.

3. Stop the fracking gas holes!

New York Court Affirms Towns’ Powers to Ban Fracking
By Lena Groeger at pro publica.org
If the state won’t stand up for you and your local wishes, the locality may now overrule to protect its lands and citizenry.

So much more to talk about. What stories are you following?
